OMAS

Technology and classical style combined in timeless objects, whose details are evocative of the future.

The gray smooth polished titanium surface has a wonderful tactile quality most befitting Omas' 12-faceted model.

This traditional and classic line, manufactured without interruption since 1930, has been re-interpreted in this new version, symbolizing the spirit of Man in 2000, who, although he has been thrust towards a future where the technology is the predominant theme, he still seeks out art and beauty.

Titanium - the name comes from Titan, the mythical son of the Earth - is a light, hard metal which has recently found a number of high technology applications, where its unique properties create a number of benefits. Discovered in 1791, the process for making the ore pure was found only in 1825. Titanium is found with other minerals including rutile and brookite and some titanites, including titanite Diamonds were known to the Ancient world (the word comes form the Greek for indomitable and are a pure form of crystalised carbon in the hexoctahetraedral category with either hex octahedral form with a variety of convex faces as in Brazil or in octahedral form as in South Africa and the Indies, often with curves, sharp edges and indentations.

The cleavage of the octahedron is perfect with high refectory index, bright color and phosphorescence when held up to the sunlight. It is untouched by acids, is not worn by atmospheric agents, and does not melt even at the highest temperatures.

At 2000 degrees Celsius, when exposed to oxygen, it burns forming carbon dioxide without residues. It is the hardest substance known to man.

The use of high quality diamonds and titanium is new and conjures up images of high technology and future worlds, rather than the centuries-old almost unaltered tradition of diamond cutting. Yet they form a prefect couple. The warm grey of the pen is perfectly matched by the sparkle of diamonds in the band which is made even more luminous by the reflection of the 12 facets when the pen is rotated.

The lengthy and difficult production process justified the limited number of pieces - only 200 pcs, a worthy close to the 75th anniversary of the registration of the OMAS name, which saw the launch of the T2 Collection and which, with this prestigious series, confirms the official inclusion of this material in the history of writing instruments.
